Welcome home Liquids and Tacitus!

Liquids is bold, brave, adventurous and one of the funniest young people (man I feel old just saying that!) I have ever met in my life. The fondness that I had for him when we first met in Kazham so many years ago is exactly the same today.
Tacitus is one of the smartest people I've met. Although that should intimidate the hell out of me, I find that his wit, confidence and charisma charming. All of which makes him the perfect planner: We gladly follow his suggestion, often dying in the process, laughing at ourselves along the way and still managing to complete our objective.
I am always thankful for the people I have in my life. Even though I have never met these men in person, I have a special place in my heart for both of them.

Update Part 2 O.o!
Isn't strange how things work out sometimes?
Sean, Bob and I were discussing earlier this month how we rarely play FFXI and that it seems like a waste to continue paying for the accounts. We had decided at that time that we would contact a LS that we knew of that helps new players with gil and gear when they first start out and giving them all of ours to help that fund. We had all but written this game off. We had lost interest... mainly because we weren't doing anything in game other than level grind and farm. More often than not, we didn't speak to anyone in-game. I told the guys that I would stay only if we could a reason to do so. We were unable to find a reason and were set to delete our characters and cancel our accounts this very evening. And then fate stepped in.
I received an email today from a long lost friend who looked us up via this blog after reading about the recent changes FFXI has made. Liquids... the crazy teenager manthra that we played with over 4 years ago. Ironically, we were just talking about him the night before. We reminisced about the good times that we had when we were playing with fun people that were not afraid to take risks. Only a few people are left from those times: Annaka plays regularly and has made his way to several jobs to the 75 cap and no doubt is well on his way to having jobs to 80. Blixmas came back from a short time away and still plays between patients. Because he normally plays during business hours, I very rarely see him. Still a very funny guy... and a slow typer. But I must say he has improved quite a bit over the years! I usually see him towing his elvaan around from place to place or AFK in a city while he is checking out a set of peepers.
I'm not sure how Facebook formulates the friend suggestion people... but the other day I noticed Tac was listed for me. I'm not a big Facebook person... I usually just pop on to monitor what my daughter puts out there and cringe at the spelling and grammatical errors. Inspired by Liq contacting me, I decided to reach out to Tac by way of a friend request and in the comments I told him of Liq's expected return and listed his email address. I really do hope he comes back to the game... or at the very least contacts Liq directly to keep in touch. Fingers and toes crossed that he will on both counts.
Sean is in the process of updating his game with the latest downloads and I am going through the painful process of reinstalling the game from scratch. 8 more hours to go before I can see what we have left from the fire sale. Bob says we have some gear to auction to get some gil in our pockets, apparently from a mule we forgot to clear off earlier this month. I guess we should be sad about the gear we gave away but we really are not. We can get it again if it turns out that we need it. We will just be in AF for a bit. No biggie! That alone will be something to do.
So hopefully this will be the first of many posts for 2010!

Update
I took some time today and updated the links on this blog to point to my website and new blog. I still play FFXI on occasion... but not nearly as much as before. It is really cool to see how much progress I was able to make on some of my character even with the limited time spent in-game. Makes me sad that I can't find the time to play more often. It was fun to take a trip down memory lane reading about the adventures with friends and looking pictures of our journeys. Good times!
